With wallpaper, the image and material work together. The same panorama can look fine and photographic on a smooth surface, or softer and more sculptural on a linen texture. For an interior project, the choice goes beyond appearance: the wall substrate, maintenance and requirements of the particular space also matter.
What Is Non-Woven Wallpaper?
A non-woven backing is made from bonded fibres. In the VividWalls collection, it carries a textured vinyl layer for printing. “Non-woven” therefore describes the backing; it does not mean the entire product is vinyl-free. If your brief requires a PVC-free material, explore HP PVC-Free separately.
The VividWalls collection is printed with HP Latex inks and comes in three weights: 250, 350 and 450 g/m². The surface is washable, and the material is installed with PVA textile adhesive. Agree the primer and wall preparation with the installation team.
13 Textures, Three Directions to Explore
Start with the effect you want. For a detailed image, explore finer surfaces. For restrained graphics or large areas of colour, you can give the texture a more prominent role.
- Carina, 250 g/m²: a fine, even relief. Our standard material and a useful starting point for a sample.
- Ten textures, 250 g/m²: smooth Andromeda, matting-like Pyxis, leather-effect Vela, crumpled-paper Fornax, diamond-mesh Orion, coarse crumpled Phoenix, linen-effect Crux, fine-grained Pictor, vertically striped Sculptor and threaded Lacerta.
- Auriga, 350 g/m²: a dense woven texture with a more pronounced presence.
- Taurus, 450 g/m²: a dense, scratch-resistant surface to discuss for areas subject to frequent contact.
A higher weight alone does not determine which surface is suitable. Assess the texture with the specific image and lighting. Explore all materials and textures and request a sample. Samples are offered at 50% of the selling price.
What to Include in the Specification
Record the texture name, weight, wall dimensions and chosen file. For a series of rooms, add an identifier for each wall, the quantity and the delivery sequence. This provides a clear reference for future orders.
For spaces with fire-classification requirements, request the documentation for the chosen material at the quotation stage. VividWalls non-woven fabric has a stated M2 classification; HP PVC-Free has stated B1 and M1 classifications. The project designer assesses their applicability to the particular space. HP PVC-Free has GREENGUARD Gold certification when printed with HP Latex inks.
Preparing for Installation
- Measure the wall. Check width and height in more than one place and mark openings, recesses and fixed elements.
- Confirm the substrate. The installation team should assess its soundness, flatness, primer and compatibility with the adhesive.
- Check the composition. Important parts of the image should fall in the right places relative to the furniture and architecture.
- Inspect the strips before hanging. Check the sequence, direction and image alignment. Contact us with any questions before installation.
- Follow the material instructions. Agree the joining and trimming method according to the prepared strips.
VividWalls manufactures and delivers the wallpaper. Installation is arranged by the client and their contractor.
Maintenance and Future Updates
The washable surface allows careful cleaning according to the material instructions. Start on a small, inconspicuous area and avoid abrasive products. For areas exposed to moisture, splashes or frequent intensive cleaning, clarify the conditions before choosing.
Removal depends on the wall, primer and adhesive used. Do not plan a refurbishment on the assumption that every substrate will remain intact. Discuss this with the installation team.
